Pigeon Forge quilt show

I returned today from the Pigeon Forge quilt show in Tennessee. The actual quilt show was more the size of a large guild show and was very traditional. I originally posted a photo of a quilt I really liked, but since I didn't have the maker's name to give proper credit, it was suggested I remove the photo, so I did.

We had a great time. There were 10 of us in the 3 condos. It was nice to get to know some of my fellow guild members better and I even got some sewing done!

That quilt is cool! When the photo first loaded I didn't even realize at first that is was a quilt - it looks like a big, hand-painted platter. :-)

Corky - Just as anyone else glancing at the first page of your blog would assume, at first glance I thouhgt this was your own spectacular quilt, .. until I got to the fine print in the text where it is clear you didn't make it, and didn't make note of the maker's, either. Not only are you being very unfair to this quilter, by not publishing her name, you are in breach of copyright. If you had asked the show organisers they would have insisted in proper accreditation, or you could have contacted the maker to ask if she minded if you put it up/ie published it, on your blog - she'd have said the same - "use my name please" I would be quite upset to find an image of one of my works presented without any acknowledgement/accreditation, and would insist it be removed. You really need to bone up on copyright - this is not just me making up some rules. Entrants to that show would have signed some waiver to the effect that their image could be used for educational and publicity purposes ( ie publicity for the Pigeon Forge show, not for Corky or anyone else's weblog) Sure, quilters have always happily and generously shared, and this is fine, as long as we all know who is sharing what and where we are sharing it. Just think how you would feel if some marvellous piece of yours was 'out there' but no one knew YOU really made it, and wrongly assumed it was made by Susy Sunshine?
