Accent on Accents

I have always been interested in regional expressions and dialect. Probably because of moving around the country and getting funny looks when I ordered 'pop' to drink. (Since living in New York City I now order 'soda' - I didn't want to mess with those New Yorkers about what to drink!)

I find it interesting that this short quiz would place me in the area of my youth even though I haven't lived there in years. I guess you can take the girl out of Detroit, but you can't take the Detroit out of the girl!

Your Result: The Inland North

You may think you speak "Standard English straight out of the dictionary" but when you step away from the Great Lakes you get asked annoying questions like "Are you from Wisconsin?" or "Are you from Chicago?" Chances are you call carbonated drinks "pop."

I tried the accent quiz. It was fun. I'm totally Inland North.

Oh, dear, I must not have an 'ear'. I have been a western gal for 65+ years and the quiz puts me in the Inland North.
